Castellina In Chianti
Castellina in Chianti is part of the province of Siena, among the hills of Chianti in the midst of the valleys of the Pesa, dell'Arbia and countryside. The first human presence dating back to Etruscan period, most probably destroyed by an incursion of Galli. During the early medieval period the town was known as Salingolpe, while in the eleventh century was given as a feud, the Countess Matilde accounts Guidi and following the noblest of Trebbio. The village in early 1400 was transformed into a fortress of which today remains the mighty fortress. In 1944 he was hit with a gateway to the village.
