Siena is located in central Tuscany, known for its great artistic heritage and its unit style of medieval furniture. The town was declared by UNESCO namely heritage of humanity. Immersed in the centre of a large hilly landscape, between the valleys of rivers Arbia south, Merse south-west and north Elsa, among the hills of Chianti to the north-east, Montagnola to the west and Crete Senesi south - east. Its foundation brings us in Roman times when a colony settled in the area and took the name of Saena Julia. Few are the news concerning its ancient past and only the first count we have some concrete news, it was Winigi, son of Rainier, in 867. Immediately after 900 was the Emperor Louis III, a reign of Siena although not hard for so long, since 903 in the chronicles tell of a return to power of the accounts under the new government of King Berengario. Starting from the tenth century the territory was included in important trade routes.
